Pre-Teens Capoeira

Pre-Teen Capoeira classes (Ages 9–12) offer a positive outlet for children, focusing on improving coordination, balance, speed, motor skills, strength, and overall physical health. These classes help pre-teens improve their focus, confidence, discipline, motivation, and ability to express themselves positively. Capoeira introduces challenging and fun movements, allowing students to test their limits in a safe and supportive environment while learning the importance of consistency, resilience, perseverance, and self-discipline as they gain a strong sense of accomplishment.

Beyond the physical benefits, Capoeira also teaches important historical and cultural values through music, movement, teamwork, and class experiences. Students develop behaviors and habits that can positively influence their focus, attitude, confidence, and ability to learn and communicate in different areas of life such as school, friendships, sports, and at home.

Participation in Capoeira stimulates the musical, physical, artistic, and creative sides of pre-teens while helping develop mind-body connection, awareness, coordination, agility, strength, flexibility, and self-control. Apart from these benefits, Capoeira helps build a strong and positive character through self-expression, confidence, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in a fun, energetic, and encouraging environment.

About Our Center

Welcome to The Michigan Center for Capoeira, where we're more than just a studio - we're a vibrant community dedicated to transforming lives through the power of Capoeira. We believes that though the art of Capoeira, while providing a safe space, we are able to help raise the next generation of youth. Opened minded and educated in culture, fitness, self-expression and much more.

Capoeira is one of the youngest yet fastest growing art form today. This Afro-Brazilian sport is an ideal multi lateral training, combining martial arts, dance, acrobatics & music, making it perfect for kids and teens. Students enjoy a fun, educational and cultural experience.

Our goals are centered around building a welcoming community where Capoeira becomes a gateway for personal growth and cultural exchange. We're committed to uniting people from diverse walks of life, fostering connections beyond borders, and creating impactful experiences through Capoeira and social gatherings.

Capoeira is a non-violent form of self defense. It empowers kids to explore their hidden talents, enhance their physical and mental abilities, all while giving them an outlet to be themselves and achieving a sense of identity as an individual.

"You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great."

Frequently asked questions

My child has never done martial arts or dance, can he/she still participate?

Absolutely! Our Classes are designed to challenge all levels of practitioners and zero experience or abilities are needed to start. Our teachers use a patented methodology, developed and proven over 25 years. Your child will progress at their own pace in a safe and enjoyable manner.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable, loose sports clothes. No Shorts or sleeveless shirts please, since some of the movements are inverted. Participants train barefoot.

Is there a belt system & how do one progress through it?

Yes, we have a curriculum and a proprietary methodology. Every year students graduate through a belt system based on their attendance and progress.

Does my child need a sparring partner?

No a partner is not necessary but we highly encourage your child to bring a friend since it has been proven to help with consistency and motivation towards achieving their goals.

Is it ok if I'm a bit late on my first day?

Classes start on time with a specific warm-up and physical preparation. We can not accept students that did not warm up for safety reasons. Plan to arrive 5-10 min before class starts.

How long is each class?

Kid Class during the weekdays are 60 min. Saturday Classes are 45 min.

How long before I can expect to see my childs results ?

Every student is unique, starting with different abilities and progressing at their own pace. Many kids after 4-5 sessions begin to show improvements and more understanding of the class material being taught and structure. Usually after 3 months we see start to see some surprising results.
